Michael Cardoso

Biography

Michael Cardoso is a Senior Lecturer in Leadership and Management at Middlesex University Dubai. He holds a BA in Human Resource Management with Marketing from Middlesex University, an MSc in Management of Training and Development from the University of Edinburgh, and a PGCert in Higher Education (Teaching Fellow). His PhD, titled Institutional Expectations in a Baptist Church and a Non-Denominational Charismatic Church: An Ethnographic Approach to Exploring Church Leadership Dynamics, is currently pending viva.

Michael has extensive teaching and supervision experience across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a primary focus on Leadership, Human Resource Development, Organisational Learning, and Business Strategy. His teaching practice is grounded in the application of diverse methods including lectures, seminars, workshops, case studies, and peer learning, with assessments ranging from individual reports to group presentations and debates.

He has served as a Module Leader for a wide array of subjects including Leadership and Management, Leadership in a Global Context, Business Functions, and Management and Organisations. As a Module Tutor, he has contributed to courses such as Work Organisations and Society, International Human Resource Management, and Management Concepts and Application. Michael has supervised numerous postgraduate dissertations, particularly in the fields of Leadership and Learning & Development.

Previously based at Middlesex University’s Hendon campus, he has held various academic leadership roles, including Programme Leader for BA Business Management, BA International Business, and BA Human Resource Management. He also served as University Link Tutor for the Foundation Programme at Barnet College.

Now based at Middlesex University Dubai, Michael teaches Leadership, Strategy, and Management across the MBA and Business Management programmes and continues to engage in consultancy work, specialising in leadership development, teamwork, and communication skills. He is also a qualified football coach, combining his interest in sport with a deep understanding of group dynamics and performance enhancement.
