  • Wednesday, 5 February 2020

The new Model was discussed in the context of recent megatrends such as Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, climate change and the circular economy

04 February 2020: Middlesex University Dubai, in collaboration with Mr Sunil Thawani of Quality Indeed Consulting, welcomed over 50 leading industry experts from across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to participate in a conversation over the newly released EFQM 2020 Model. The EFQM Model is a globally-recognised management framework which allows organisations to achieve success by measuring where they are on the path towards transformation, helping them understand the gaps and possible solutions available, and empowering them to progress and significantly improve their organisation’s performance.

Mr Mohammad Ali Meraj, Quality Manager and Business School faculty member at Middlesex University Dubai, co-hosted the event with Mr Thawani. The pair introduced EFQM 2020 Model as a significant update to an already successful framework. The lively discussion focused on how the new Model has shifted from being a quality assessment tool to one that offers a strategic blueprint to help with the disruption, changes, and transformation that our organisations face. Our interactive workshop format allowed participants to get involved in an interactive dialogue about the megatrends such as Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, climate change and the circular economy that are reshaping the world we live and work in and how the EFQM Model has evolved to reflect these realities.

Ms Isra Mobideen, EFQM Middle East Regional Director, was in attendance and provided her valuable insights on the process of updating the EFQM 2020 Model, which included inputs from nearly 2,000 experts from diverse industry, governmental and academic organisations across the globe including leading entities from the Dubai such as DEWA, Dubai Customs, Dubai Municipality among others. She also presented a copy of the new EFQM 2020 Model to Dr Cedwyn Fernandes, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Middlesex University and Director of Middlesex University Dubai campus. Dr Fernandes complimented the EFQM on their contributions in supporting the successful transformation of regional and international organisations and thanked Mr Thawani and Mr Meraj for hosting one of the first academic forums to discuss the new EFQM 2020 Model.
