Students from the School of Business, attended a day trip to the 3M Innovation Center in Dubai Internet City. This field trip was conducted as part of the Innovation Management course headed by Conchita Fonseca in conjunction with the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Business Excellence.

Students were able to see first-hand the history and evolution of 3M and marveled at their latest innovations. They had the opportunity to interact with Raya Mikkawai - Specialist Product Stewardship & Sustainability, Customer Inspired Innovation, Research & Development, who briefed them about the many industries that 3M operates in. She gave live demonstrations of 3M’s newest innovations and challenged the students to think of the many applications of one single innovation and how 3M leverages it to service various customers around the world.

Laveena Nair, a student relayed “The visit to the 3M innovation center gave me insight to what actually happens in organisations that seek to innovate. It really helped me to connect the discussions we have in class with real life examples. Another student, Hazel Ann, expressed her gratitude by saying, “I really enjoy our Innovation Management class and trips like these are an eye opener that enrich the quality of our learning experience. We hear and read about many cases of innovation, but a concrete experience like this is extremely valuable.”
