Second year BSc Honours Information Technology students Reham Salman and Lavesh Bhatia won third place at the 3rd Annual Travel Tech Middle East Innovation Challenge. The competition in which university students are challenged to come up with an innovative business idea, leveraging technology and impacting the travel sector, was launched in the summer of 2019.

Reham and Lavesh, who are no strangers to success at competitions, received praise for their idea of which centred around an app named ‘visionDubai’ to help visually impaired individuals to navigate their surroundings and also serves as a booking assistant to allow access to various services such as cab and hotel bookings.

Both students were awarded certificates for being among the top 3 winners, and will be provided with an internship opportunity. Both were mentored by Jaspreet Sethi, Lecturer in the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics.
