Accounting and Finance Faculty hold 1st Alumni Discourse Session
- October 14 2019
Accounting and Finance faculty from Middlesex University Dubai’s School of Business recently launched a new initiative: the ‘Alumni Discourse Series’. The series aim to bridge the gap between academic practice and its application in real world scenarios.
The first session, held on 10 October, was hosted by alumnus Edwin Cardoza from KPMG (Lower Gulf), who shared insight on ‘Audit in Practice’ with real-life examples and hands-on activities. He also described his journey from a student to an audit professional in one of the Big Fours of the accounting industry, and finished the session with an online quiz based on information provided during the technical session.
The Alumni Discourse Series is comprised of five sessions for the autumn term, and students are expected to benefit from understanding how to apply what they learn in the classroom to real-life cases. It also allows them to speak to Middlesex alumni on their journey after graduation and how to boost their employability. It also allows our alumni to share their knowledge, build their confidence, and become a role model to current students.
