Note: All CIM modules are stand-alone and can be taken in any order meaning students can join at any of the three start points.

All CIM assessments are stand-alone and most CIM assessments are assignment based.

Entry Requirements

Certificate Level

A minimum of one year’s experience in the industry or a relevant level 3 qualification (E.g. A levels, AS level, International Baccalaureate diploma, level 3 NVQ)

Work experience may be as Marketing Executive or Marketing Assistant, Sale Executive or Sales/Marketing Support. Typically, individuals would be dealing with customer enquiries, research and/or tactical campaign implementation.

If English is not the first language, applicant will also need to provide evidence of achieving one of the following English Language qualifications within the last two years: IELTS Academic Module with overall score of 6.5 (each component pass mark must be 6.0 or above) or Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English grade B or above. CIM will consider other equivalent alternatives.

Diploma Level

You’ll need to have a minimum of two years’ experience working in the industry at an operational level or a relevant Level 4 qualification to study the Diploma in Professional Marketing. (E.g. Higher national certificate (HNC), level 4 NVQ, Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business)

Work experience may be as Marketing Manager or Sales Manager/Rep. Typically, these people would be dealing with staff, budget and planning of campaign and other similar activities.

If English is not the first language, applicant will also need to provide evidence of achieving one of the following English Language qualifications within the last two years: IELTS Academic Module with overall score of 6.5 (each component pass mark must be 6.0 or above) or Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English grade B or above. CIM will consider other equivalent alternatives.

*Please note that these exemptions are only permitted for a certain amount of time after graduating.

  • Students must register as a CIM member within 3 years of graduating to claim the exemptions
  • Student has up to 5 years from graduating to complete the additional module(s) to gain full qualification
  • To have exemption(s) confirmed the student will need to send a copy of their degree certificate and transcript to: [email protected]
