Middlesex University Dubai Accounting and Finance Students secure 1st place in the CFA Local Research Challenge.

Accounting and Finance Students - Steni Philip, Harshi Motwani, Sowmya Raghavan, Vikas Prakash Chand and Neha Hussain secured 1st place in the CFA Local Research Challenge 2021. This is the second time in a row that the university team is winning the prestigious event.

The journey started six months ago in October 2020 and due to COVID restrictions the events were delivered online. The completion required students to undertake the valuation of Tabreed, a listed entity in the UAE. The Team submitted a detailed investment report and presented their findings in front of a panel of CFA Charter Holders during the finale which was held on 27th February 2021. The judges at the finals uniformly echoed the superior quality of the analysis and presentation.

The next stage moves towards the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) round, wherein the Middlesex Team will compete with the region's CFA local society winners. This achievement is a testimony of hard work, commitment and passion for excellence of our Students and Staff.

The students were mentored by our star faculty advisor Rashita Puthiya CA and industry mentor Mr. Ankur Agarwal. Thanks to CPC Pallavi Kishore FCCA, UAECA  for the many initiatives undertaken by the Accounting & Finance. Our appreciation goes to Mr. Binod Shankar, Mr. Mark Gadalla and all the volunteers at CFA Emirates Society for organising the information webinars, technical workshops, and investor presentation for the participants.

This achievement is a testimony of hard work, commitment and passion for excellence of our Students and Staff.

Congratulations Middlesex Accounting & Finance Team and all the very best for the next stage of the competition.
