  • Monday, 7 January 2019

The first edition of the Fintech Competition ‘Technovation’ was held on 19 December 2018. In line with the professional and academic inititatives of Middlesex University Dubai, Technovation aims toward innovation in financial services and technology and collaboration between the Computer Engineering and Informatics (CEI) and Accounting and Finance departments.

Participating students first attended a workshop conducted by Anand Swaminathan, Executive Director at FAB and Yazad Khandhadia, Vice President Security Architecture at Emirates NBD, to get an insight of the areas that they can explore to use technology in financial services. Six teams representing  CEI and Accounting and Finance joined together to showcase their innovation with a presentation and prototype to the judges, Atrif Ahmed, Data Scientist at Emirates NBD, and Najia Maqsood, Sales and Performance Consultant. The teams were praised on their innovative ideas and for handling questions thoughtfully and with appropriate knowledge. The team comprising of Reem Mushtaq, Junaid Khan, Kavya Sridhar and Munira Shabbir Kandoriwala were declared as winners and Lavesh Bhatia and Reham Salman were declared as the runners up of the competition. They were awarded with prize money of AED 1,500 and AED 1,000 respectively.

A huge thank you to all involved and most importantly to Raman Kumar, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Logistics for facilitating the sponsorship of Al-Futtaim Logistics.
