IEBE Workshop: Start Your Company

  • Tuesday, 10 April 2018

Middlesex University Dubai’s Institute for Entrepreneurship and Business Excellence (IEBE) concluded their two-week workshop series on 7 April 2018.

The workshop series titled ‘Start Your Company’ was attended by MBA and Undergraduate Students as well as IEBE members. The series provided an opportunity for participants to develop their ideas under professional guidance with business plans and models, execution and funding.

A boot-camp was held in between the workshops for those requiring advice and/or mentoring on their ideas in strategy and business models, technology, marketing, law and finance.

Business ideas were then pitched in a ‘Shark Tank’ style format to a panel of experts including Ghizlan Guenez (Founder, The Modist), Kim A Page (Speaker, Trainer and Author of ‘The Right Kind of Loud’) and Pratik Rawal (Senior Business Setup Manager, Creative Zone), each of whom shared their business expertise and experiences and provided feedback to each individual presenter.

After the five shortlisted students presented their prospective business ideas, IEBE’s Strategic Partner, Creative Zone’s Head of Corporate Structuring, Mr Oliver Brinsley, delivered a talk on the subject of licensing options and other details for start-ups.

The panel ended the day unanimously declaring the best business idea to ‘Party Starter’ – an app that makes visiting any party interactive.
