A Big Win for Middlesex University Dubai Students & Alumni at DIFF 2017

Middlesex University Dubai is extremely proud to announce that our second year BA (Hons) Film Students and Alumni won an incredible seven accolades between the teams at this year’s Dubai International Film Festival 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP) screening held at the JBR Beach Open Air Theatre with over 200 people in attendance.
It was an intense competition with over 50 teams participating this year – ranging from industry professionals, studios and students. It was a true honour for the teams to be placed in the top 10 and to then go on to win accolades including the title of ‘Official Selection’.
‘A Showdown in Oblivion’ was submitted as a collaboration between Year One, Year Two and Year Three Students and follows Dr Richard Kaloon who finds himself in a western scenario after being knocked out by one of his patients with a showdown following between him and his patient in order to redeem his honour. This was awarded the ‘Official Selection’.
‘Re-Fuse’, submitted by our Alumni team follows a husband who is overly annoyed by his cheerful, loving and ‘imperfect’ wife. This was awarded:
- Official Selection
- Best Editing
- Best Film – 1st Runner Up
- Best Actress
- Audience Choice Award
This is a huge achievement for our Film & Media Department and shows the effect of the departments continued efforts to incorporate cutting-edge technology and a state of the art facility which continues to reap the rewards.
