Middlesex University Dubai Partners with the Meera Kaul Foundation to present the second Women in STEM Hackathon to be held on February 19-20, 2016

Promoting and encouraging women to pursue and be retained in the STEM fields is one of the social initiatives of the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics (DCEI) at Middlesex University Dubai. After the success of  Women in STEM event held in collaboration with CISCO, we are pleased to announce that this year we have partnered with the Meera Kaul Foundation to support the second Women in STEM Hackathon to be held on February 19-20, 2016. Middlesex University Dubai will award 50% scholarship for the winning team and 30% scholarship for the runner-up towards admission to MSc programs from the Department of Computer Engineering & Informatics at Middlesex University Dubai (subject to meeting the admission criteria). Student volunteers from the university will be helping at the event and Leanne D’Souza, year 2 BSc IT student has been nominated as the student mentor.  The partnership is facilitated by Dr. Fehmida Hussain, Head of the  DCEI.

Commenting on the forthcoming event, Meera Kaul, Global Chair and Founder of the Meera Kaul Foundation, said, “By investing in this Hackathon, we aim to provide a platform to encourage more women to opt for STEM careers.
