In Expansion Mode Again: Middlesex Obtains Additional Facilities in Dubai Knowledge Village

  • Wednesday, 18 January 2012

To cater for more growth in programmes and student numbers, Middlesex University Dubai recently obtained additional space to expand within Dubai knowledge Village. This added space will be in the First Floor of Block 19  (next to Starbucks and in the same building as Fitness First). This expansion, which is approximately 15% extra physical space, was secured to support growth and development in existing and future programmes. The new facility will be used for classrooms, work space for staff in the areas of Media, and International Development. Also, Careers & Employability Service will operate in the new space. The new facilities will be ready for use from Sunday January 22, 2012.

Commenting on this exciting development, Professor Raed Awamleh, University Director said that “our Co-Chairmen, Mr. Misho Ravic and Dr. Terry Butland, and Board members were very supportive of our growth plans and have enthusiastically approved this space expansion which comes at a considerable expense. We are grateful for their significant ongoing support and their confidence in us. We assure our Board that we will make efficient and effective use of space resources and that our performance on all fronts will be excellent.”  The Director also thanked all University staff for their hard work and dedication without which growth and progress would not be possible.

The Middlesex University campus in Dubai, which opened in January 2005, now boasts well over 2000 students from 80 countries studying across 33 degree programmes ranging from the social sciences, education, psychology, journalism, arts and business, to information technology. Middlesex University Dubai is an integral part of Middlesex University London, subject to the same rigorous quality assurance procedures that have earned Middlesex the highest possible endorsement from the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.
