The Power BI Data Visualization Bootcamp is delivered by the Middlesex InsightsX Lab in partnership with Beinex. Trainers from Beinex will also come for the session to facilitate learnings. The InsightsX Lab is the Data Science hub that connects the analytics community and academic fraternity with organizations willing to derive insights from their data. The lab enables academic researchers and the data science community in the UAE to help companies understand how to better monetize their data through the development and application of new predictive models and analytical approaches.

This course is suitable for individuals who are new to data visualisation and eager to learn foundational skills in Power BI, professionals in business intelligence, data analysis, or related fields seeking to advance their data visualisation capabilities, and students studying data science, or related disciplines interested in applying data visualisation techniques in their academic pursuits.
While prior experience in advanced data visualisation is not required, participants should possess basic knowledge of data handling and visualisation techniques.
Programme Information:
Objective: Understand the basics of Power BI, including data sources, importing data, and initial data handling.
Objective: Learn to clean, shape, and transform data using Power Query Editor, and understand relationships and cardinality.
Objective: Create and customise visuals, apply filters and slicers, and work with DAX for advanced data analysis.
Objective: Build interactive reports, design effective user experiences, and understand publishing and collaboration in Power BI.
Who will I be taught by?
Sudhakar Fernando - Lead Trainer
Sudhakar is a data analytics expert, with over 16 years of experience at Emirates. Since 2014, he has served as the Revenue Integrity Systems & Analytics Lead, where he pioneered industry-first solutions that save millions annually by forecasting ticketing probabilities, managing group bookings, and detecting duplicate reservations. From 2009 to 2014, as a Senior Data & Analytics Specialist, he spearheaded cost-reduction projects and created KPI dashboards. Previously, as a Revenue Systems Analyst from 2008 to 2009, he enhanced booking processes and refined demand forecasting. In addition to his corporate achievements, Sudhakar lectures on Visual Analytics at Middlesex University Dubai, specializing in tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Python. His contributions have led to notable cost savings and process enhancements, solidifying his reputation as a leader in his field.
Dr Krishnadas Nanath
Dr Krishnadas Nanath is the Deputy Head of Computer Engineering and Informatics department at Middlesex University Dubai and an Associate Professor of Data Science. He is also the founder of Middlesex Insights Lab- an applied data analytics hub that brings industry expertise and datasets for the analytics community in the region. In his previous role at Majid Al Futtaim (MAF), he was responsible for leading the efforts of enhancing Analytics and Data Science capabilities as part of the School of Analytics & Technology.
He features in the list of top academic data leaders of the world published by CDO Magazine (MIT Sloan). He received his PhD from the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM K) and his thesis covered the areas of Green IT (Sustainability Analytics) and Cloud Computing. He has extensive teaching experience in the areas of Data Science, Cloud Computing, Social Media Analytics, and MIS with Middlesex University, IMT, and IIM Indore. He has executed several corporate training programs and Data Science consulting assignments with several firms in the UAE (PWC, Landmark Group, National Bank of Fujairah, UAE Exchange, Emirates NBD, DAMAC Properties, and others). As a renowned Keynote Speaker, Dr Nanath has addressed prestigious forums such as Gitex Technology Week, Wonderland AI, IIM Ahmadabad Data Science Summit, and many others.
