MDX Dubai The BIG Think: Campus Quest

  • Tuesday, 25 February 2025

The annual MDX BIG Think competition was held on 18 February 2025, with the theme this year being Campus Quest, was a resounding success. This year, 33 teams competed across IFP, Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3, with an exciting addition of the PG Daytime MBA students who joined the challenge for the first time!

The BIG Think is an exhilarating undergraduate competition particularly designed to spark the fires of creative thinking and problem-solving within the dynamic world of business. This competition presents a scenario that requires expertise from multiple business disciplines for resolution such as Marketing, HR, Finance and Accounting, Leadership and Management, and Supply Chain, including puzzles that necessitate teamwork.

The BIG Think had many complex components, and during the event students embarked on an engaging journey through a series of business challenges. The event was initiated by the MDX Dubai Business School faculty and was led by Muneeza Shoaib, Mahnoush Gharehdash, Sony Sreejith, Ryan Stephenson and Isabel Giannina Feldbauer.

The competition was packed with excitement as students embarked on a four-station adventure across campus, solving puzzles and overcoming challenges:

  • The Compass Chamber (Study District 2): The quest began with a bang – as the teams launched confetti into the air before starting their journey.
  • The Flags of Opportunity (Block 15): Teams put their geography skills to the test, identifying flags of different countries to collect their puzzle pieces.
  • The Maze of Leadership (Block 16 Oasis Theatre): A test of patience and strategy as teams navigated a fun but tricky maze.
  • The Jargon Junction (Block 19 Social Square): A word scramble, leading teams to Blocks 17 and 18 to look for their puzzle pieces.

With all their pieces collected, teams had to crack the combination code to unlock their treasure box, marking a thrilling conclusion of their quest.

The Final Challenge: Poster Presentation

After all the adrenaline-filled action, the teams shifted gears to showcase their poster presentations, where each year group worked on their unique solutions to the pre-assigned scenarios. This was a fantastic display of critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork, highlighting the students' innovative ability to apply their learning.

  • Year 1: Develop a Marketing Campaign for a Sustainable Business in the UAE
  • Year 2: Innovative and Sustainable Business Idea
