It was a great journey studying at Middlesex University Dubai. The MBA programme was elaborative, interesting, and practical to my work needs. Both the faculty and administrative staff were welcoming and helpful, and I gained so much more than I expected. Studying in Dubai was a great choice – it is an amazing city where wonders are created with dynamic moves. Studying at MDX enabled me to widen my horizons. When I look back to the good old days in Dubai, I feel so thankful and miss the people and my friends so much. I am currently working as Head of Human Resources at Far East Global Group in Hong Kong.

Having moved from KSA to the UAE, the University had just the right amount of opportunities for me to take advantage of. From the curriculum, the array of local speakers that came and shared their stories, extracurricular activities and events, my three year journey at Middlesex University Dubai was truly memorable and one that quite literally flew by too quickly. I quite enjoyed the practical aspects of our course, one of which involved our class creating a magazine was a personal favourite. I am currently working as a Managing Director at Catch Communications, a new-age media agency

After deciding that media was my choice of career, I wanted to seek the best university in Dubai which would allow me to excel. With Dubai being a melting-pot of cultures, the University provided me with the opportunity to meet and study alongside people of many different nationalities, cultures and beliefs which in turn shaped my professional expertise and outlook. The professors and faculty were always open to ideas and provided undivided attention and support throughout the programme. Choosing Middlesex is one of the best decisions I have ever made. During my programme I had the opportunity to work on projects with Arabian Radio Network as a voice over artist which has helped shape my experience as a media professional and taken me to where I am today.

I joined Middlesex University Dubai as a young, energetic kid with lots of ambition. I knew that my camera and media were my calling, my dream were brought to fruition by my professors at MDX. I was soon attending photo expeditions with the Student Photography Club and I became an official photographer for the University. Photography, animation, comic art and writing gave me the most satisfaction. One of my friends pushed me to send my work to National Geographic! It was met with critical acclaim and earned me the Hamdan Photography Award and the National Geographic Nature Photographer of 2012. After graduating and working for various companies as a digital marketing executive, I decided to set up my own digital marketing company, Yatra Digital Solutions, specialising in film, animation and production. It now has three studios in India and assignments across the globe, and a web animated series in the pipeline.

I work with Jotun UAE Ltd LLC (Marine Department) as a Marine Analyst for the Middle East, India and Africa region. The faculty of Computer Engineering and Informatics at Middlesex University Dubai prepared me for my professional career in Information Technology. In addition to the courses taught, the weekly lab sessions and the practical case studies, the department introduced extended tutorials covering updated data analytical technologies that were relevant to the new wave of Data Science and Big Data. I couldn’t be more grateful to my professors for instilling in me the ethics of an IT professional, for providing knowledge and training in up to date tools and software, for providing the facilities and comfortable learning environment for effective studies, for tasking me with real life case studies and projects and for spending extra one-on-one mentoring sessions when I needed them the most.

Middlesex University Dubai is a unique, fun and lively campus where lifelong memories are formed. I decided to come back to University to do a Masters after graduating with an Undergraduate Degree 9 years earlier, and the decision has been a complete game changer. I was provided with constant guidance and encouragement from faculty and had access to excellent resources throughout my time at the University. The lecturers are not only friendly but also industry experienced so that I was able to learn from them. It has been a truly great honour to be part of the Middlesex family. I am currently working as  Human Resources Officer at Emirates

My time as an undergraduate student was invaluable in shaping a holistic understanding of the industries I work with today. I am currently a Senior Programme Associate at the Pearl Initiative, the region’s only NGO focused on governance, where I work closely with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on philanthropy in the Gulf region. I employ learnings from the classroom, including an understanding of the complex political decisions that go behind global development issues. While at MDX, I did several internships that I secured through MDX networking events, including working with the United Nations Global Compact. I also capitalized on the numerous extracurricular activities offered, including heading the Debate Club, which helped me develop skills that I leverage today when engaging with industry leaders. My overall student experience has equipped me with the learnings to prepare me for a career in the development industry.

My time at Middlesex University has been and continues to be highly rewarding and valuable. Today, in my role as a Law Clerk for a law firm practicing complex litigation, I employ the legal rules I learned in lectures. Most recently, the legal education I received helped me pass the New York Bar Exam. To get here, while at Middlesex I took part in the Willem C. Vis Arbitration Moot, where I gained insightful experience at actual dispute practice. Equally important, I worked as a Student Learning Assistant, where I reinforced legal concepts and approaches by assisting student peers work their way through the lecture material. These experiences, and countless others in the lecture halls, have set the foundation and primed me for an eventual successful legal career. I am proud to have graduated from Middlesex University.

I am currently a trainee solicitor at Pinsent Masons Dubai doing my first seat in Finance & Projects! The various opportunities at Middlesex coupled with the support of the incredible law faculty has been pivotal in kick-starting my career journey. In my role as President of the Mooting Society during my third year, I had the opportunity to set up the Society’s first annual legal newsletter alongside my committee members. We felt supported in organizing guest speaker sessions and arranging for participation in international competitions that took place in Vienna, Paris and Washington DC, among others. Whilst representing the university in these international competitions, we were coached by industry leaders whose professional expertise I found invaluable. It was through the university’s mentorship scheme – the Future Lawyers Network, that I met my mentor whose advice was invaluable during the application stage of my training contract.

My time in Middlesex University Dubai really helped me figure out what it was that I wanted to do.

It also showed me what I was capable of doing… I started playing squash when I was 9 years old. Having spent almost 17 years playing the sport, I can’t imagine what my life would be like if I wasn’t playing pro.

It was at 17 years old that I decided I wanted to play squash full time. Probably the best decision of my life. I am grateful to be living the dream and can’t wait to see what’s in left of this wonderful journey.

I hope I am an example for fellow sportsmen studying at university. Sports and education can definitely go hand in hand!

My university experience was nothing short of phenomenal. My studies at Middlesex showed me that stability comes with excellence. We were instilled with the ability to 'taste' various career options to find the one we can excel in. The various opportunities presented during the course forced me to hone various qualities such as leadership, mentorship, patience, and perseverance. They also gradually built my comfort levels to take calculated risks. With that, I decided to take a chance and do something new: Risk Management. By the time I graduated I was working as a Quality & Risk Management Trainee at BDO Chartered Accountant and Advisors, which is one of the top 10 Audit firms in the world.

Tremendous support and guidance from faculty at MDX helped to shape my skills in this industry. During my journey, I developed an interest towards sustainability in technology. Hunger to deep dive more into the combination of technology and sustainability helped me to expand my horizon and carry out my research work.

I didn’t have a specific dream career as I was intrigued to explore all possible related fields that my degree associates with. However, I was certain that I wanted to bridge the gap between tech and business, and be a part of any business’ digital transformation journey. And I am glad to say that my current role is aligning with my dream vision of a Digital Transformational Consultant. I secured my first internship through a MDX University campus interview, and there I developed the necessary business analysis skills to eventually land my current position.
