MDX first and only university in the UAE to be part of the Google Student Developer Club

  • Monday, 2 November 2020

The Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics is proud to share that Middlesex University Dubai is the first and only university in the UAE to be part of the Google Student Developer Club. This is a result of the hard work and initiative of one of our BEng Year 3 students and the Vice-President of our MDX Computing Society, Lavesh Panjwani.

Developer Student Clubs (DSC) are university-based community groups for students interested in Google developer technologies. Students from all undergraduate or graduate programs with an interest in growing as a developer are welcome. By joining a DSC, students grow their knowledge and gain hands-on experience in a peer-to-peer learning environment, while building solutions for local businesses and their community. Over the academic year, in collaboration with the MDX Computing Society, the DSC at MDX Dubai plans to conduct multiple events, hackathons, sessions, certifications, and solving community challenges.

Furthermore, there are certificate programmes currently running providing access to Google’s Cloud Platform & Amazon Web Services involving Machine Learning, Data Science, Cloud Engineering, Flutter, Android Development, Firebase, etc. Each month a new track is selected, November being Cloud Engineering. Upon completion, students receive a Certificate, LinkedIn Shareable Badges, Gift Box (Google Home Minis, Google Hampers with T-Shirts & much more for top performers from Google).

For more information about this club, check out the MDX computing society on social media: https://www.facebook.com/csmdx

Well done Lavesh! Many thanks to Jaspreet Sethi and Engie Bashir, Senior Lecturers from the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics (CEI) who oversee and strongly support the MDX Computing Society activities.
