  • Monday, 2 March 2020

Students on Middlesex University Dubai’s prestigious Master of Science Corporate Marketing Communications and Strategic Marketing programmes attended interactive sessions given by the region’s top industry professionals at the “Offsite Experience” at Hotel Kempinski, Mall of the Emirates Dubai.

The opening session started with a presentation by Eric Shaffman, CEO and Founder, SmartBlock Beverages FZ LLC, whose session was based on a business model of his company where consumers are given incentives for pro environmental behaviours with a first focus on plastic bottle collection, which was very exciting and enlightening for the students and thoroughly benefitted from this session.

This next session was by Mazen Khamis, Insights Director of VISA, Central Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa. He spoke on the importance and strategies in marketing which are data driven.

Dr Pujari (Senior Lecturer and Campus Programme Coordinator) and Matt Brown (Lecturer in Marketing) explained “The MSc Marketing team is keen to get experts in from the ‘real world’ to engage with the students and this event sees well over a century of marketing excellence showcased in a matter of hours. Ultimately, there is an assessment based on the day but it is taken for granted that those present will gain immeasurably from interacting with leading lights in the local marketing and entrepreneurial community”.

After the lunch at Oleas restaurant, Kajal Ramchandani, Assistant Marketing Manager, Middle East & Africa Division, PSA Groupe who is also an alumnus of Middlesex University Dubai, provided some useful insights on Automobile brand Peugot’s branding and communication strategies.

The final speaker for the event was Gulnar Farooq, Marketing Director, Talabat who shared her current experience and challenges on campaigns, of which is a very important area for the people of branding and communication industry. She ended her talk with a problem for students to propose solutions to a new marketing communication with radio as a medium in the gulf region, making the session interesting.
