CSR Poster Making Competition

  • Tuesday, 10 December 2019
On 28 November 2019, the Department of Accounting and Finance organised a Corporate Social Responsibility Poster Making Competition in collaboration with the Institute of Sustainable Development at Middlesex University Dubai.

This unique concept was conceptualised and designed by Rashita Puthiya, Lecturer in Accounting and Finance, with the objective of raising awareness that a business should not only consider profitability, but also its impact on society and the environment.

The participants were given a company on the spot (Air Arabia) and were tasked with coming up with a poster depicting how the organisation should create a CSR report that captures the Triple Bottom Line concept.

Lecturer in Management, Rhoderick Romano, judged the competition and congratulated the participants on their work. "Today is only a poster, tomorrow your roles in companies and societies are your canvas," he said.

During the week, Accounting and Finance Student Learning Assistants also organised three sessions for second year students to create awareness on CSR. Using a technology based app, students were asked to draw their idea of CSR and engage in active discussion on related topics. Initiatives of various companies were examined to debate as to whether CSR was truly implemented with the correct intention or whether it was used as a marketing tool and brand building exercise.

The winners of the CSR Poster Making Competition were:

Winners: Sanika, Arfaa and Nadiya
Runners Up: Sowmya, Shreya, Puja and Roxanne.
