4th Annual Visit to Strasbourg

  • Tuesday, 28 May 2019

Students from Middlesex University Dubai’s Law and Politics programmes visited Strasbourg between 20-23 May 2019.

This was the University’s fourth annual trip to Strasbourg, a trip which has been organised since 2016 along with students from the University’s home campus in Hendon (London). The trip is attended by students from both the Dubai and London campus students from all levels (UG and PG).

This year the group visited and received a guided tour of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, as well as the Debating Chamber of the Parliament of the European Union ahead of the EU elections which took place between 24 and 26 May 2019. They met with a Senior Officer of the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, and with three Judges of the European Court of Human Rights: Siofra O’Leary, Judge elected in respect of Ireland, Robert Spano, Vice President of the Court, Judge elected in respect of Iceland, and Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos, President of the Court, Judge elected in respect of Greece.

This trip is an extremely valuable opportunity for students to get an insight to the European Institutions that are without a doubt the most progressive human rights centres in the world.
