Youth Festival Finale 2018 – A Cultural Extravaganza
- April 1 2018
Middlesex University Dubai’s 8th Annual Youth Festival held its Grand Finale last week at the DUCTAC Theatre, Mall of The Emirates.
150 students took part in the finale of the three most popular categories – music, dance and fashion. This year’s Youth Festival paid homage to United Nation’s World Water Day, with a special opening performance of a group rap ‘Water Day’ led by Law Student Salma – last year’s star performer.
The fashion show highlighted the lack of clean water, severe ocean pollution and the importance of preserving water for future generations. The show itself was a work of young, dedicated and talented Middlesex University Dubai students with a passion for the sustainability, the environment and fashion. The showcase of Sustainable Development Goals was highly praised by the audience and judges.
The music competition attracted over 60 finalists competing for Best Vocalist and Best Band. The University was extremely proud to welcome award winning Bollywood singer, Hemaa Sardesai, as Chief Judge of the music competition, who congratulated all of the participants on their profound talent and their enthusiasm.
Finally, the dance performances were received with standing ovations with students performing a wide range of styles from KPOP, breakdance, hip-hop and contemporary. It was truly a night to remember!
The finale was supported by our wonderful sponsors, Binghatti Juices, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Green Tea x50, AFC Holidays, 360 Fitness and MAD Dance Academy.
We’d also like to thank our amazing judging panel, Hemaa Sardesai, Rhea Jacobs, Ms Neelam, Hardeep Singh, Mr Munzer, Mr Dandy and our faculty and students for all of their support during the event.
