IEBE conducts “Entrepreneurship: Start your own company” workshop

  • Tuesday, 18 April 2017

Continuing with the spirit of developing ‘Creating a better tomorrow’, The Institute of Entrepreneurship and Business Excellence (IEBE) successfully concluded a series of workshops during March 25 and April 1 at the Oasis Theater. The event titled “Entrepreneurship: Start your own company”, was attended by MBA students and was an opportunity for the participants to develop a conceptual business plan encompassing all important fundamentals of the idea, business model, team/execution, timing and funding.

Between the first and second sessions, the groups were able to undergo a boot camp session where consultation and guidance was provided by IEBE Core Members, who are Middlesex University Senior Lecturers and Visiting Faculty (Dr. Michael Kloep, Dr. Krishnadas Nanath and Mr. Madhav Gokhale) to further refine their ideas.

Groups were able to pitch their business concepts in a ‘Shark Tank’ style format to an esteemed panel of experts:

  • Mr. BenKuhn (CEO, Heroleads Ventures)
  • Mr. Harsh Munjal (CEO, 3D Consulting)
  • Dr. Pablo Fetter (CEO, King’s Education)

A number of uniquely creative presentations were featured that included concepts utilizing mobile app technology for monitoring health, an online platform consolidating medical information for customers, eco-focused events for responsible retailing and consumption, and a healthy manufacturing and distribution of candies and food items.

The panel provided commentaries and valuable advice to the interesting proposals and came to a consensus to award the best presentation. The winning group of Alfiya Aitkulova and Ankit Raj and their concept of utilizing Drop-Shipping and FBA Business for textiles and garments to access markets won the favor of the judges. The winning concept received pledges of support from peers and even one of the ‘Sharks’; which is a wonderful sign of the program delivering on the expectations from the organizers, to the attendees and even the judges.

The event also included a talk from IEBE’s Strategic Partner, Raquel Decena (Business Development Director of Creative Zone). Information and considerations of entrepreneurs regarding licensing options and estimated inclusive fees were shared with the curious attendees; so the dream of enterprise could just be a few steps closer.

We are happy to welcome you in our events. For more information on IEBE, students can log into: http://www.mdx.ac.ae/iebe or contact via e-mail to: [email protected]
