Students from Middlesex University Dubai’s MBA programme recently visited Milan for a week to study the fashion industry as part of their applied learning experiences. This is a part of their programme which is designed to enhance professional competence by ensuring that the participant engages with practice and the application of their learning. During the visit, the students conducted field research where they compared different retail experiences in terms of product offer, store environment, customer experience.

A highlight of the trip was an exclusive visit to Armani Sylos Museum, the fashion art of space in Milan dedicated to the Armani style and Zegna flagship store in Milan, a luxury brand of men’s wear founded in 1910.

Professor Ajit Karnik accompanied the students and commended them on the significant achievement they had in a short period of time. The course was led by Professor Stefania Saviolo, Professor of Strategy and Professor Erica Corbellini, Professor in Management of Fashion Companies, both at SDA Bocconi School of Management at Bocconi University, Italy which is considered one of the most prestigious business schools in Europe, and involved a module’s worth of material compressed into one week. With a unique blend of classroom learning, guest speakers from luxury fashion retail, discussions and industry visits, teams of MBA students conducted independent research and their presentations were of a very high standard – earning accolades from the teaching team in Milan.
