CAMPUS QUEST COMPETITION

The Big Think: Campus Quest is the latest instalment of the ever-popular annual Big Think competition. This exhilarating competition is designed to spark the fires of creative thinking and problem-solving!
Contestants will be challenged to head to various locations around campus where they will solve clues to gain puzzle pieces, which will then need to be pieces back together to complete the quest!

WHO CAN ENTER THE COMPETITION?

This year, The Big Think competition is open to all MDX students from all year groups: IFP, undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA. So, what are you waiting for?

IMPORTANT DATES

Team registration deadline: 10th February 2025


Get your teams ready! Registration is open now, and will close on 10 February, allowing you time to finalise your team of 4 and secure your spot in this exciting competition.

Final digital poster submission deadline: 14th February 2025


Teams must submit digital posters by 14th February. The topic of your poster will be communicated to you via email.

Final physical poster submission deadline: 17th February 2025


Physical posters must be printed and submitted by 17 February.

Competition day: 18th February 2025


The teams will compete in a thrilling quest across the Dubai Knowledge Park campus to find the puzzle pieces that leads them back to their poster display. 

PRIZES

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.

  • 1st Place: Cash Prize of 250 AED per person
  • 2nd Place: Cash Prize of 150 AED per person
  • 3rd Place:  Cash Prize of 100 AED per person

CERTIFICATES

Participation: A certificate of participation will be given out to all the students who participate in the competition.

Winners: Certificates will be awarded to the first, second, and third-place winners.

 

OBJECTIVES

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate effectively by combining your expertise and knowledge to solve complex business scenarios.
  • Research Application: Promoting the application of prior research and theoretical knowledge to real-world business challenges, enhancing your problem-solving skills.
  • Time Management: Think critically and work efficiently and present your posters to a panel of judges.
  • Presentation Skills: Developing your presentation and communication skills by articulating your solutions effectively to industry judges.
  • Competition: Foster a spirit of competition and innovation, motivating you to strive for excellence and creativity in your solutions.

JUDGING CRITERIA

  • Solution Quality: Judges assess the depth and effectiveness of the proposed solution in addressing the business challenge.
  • Research Application: The extent to which teams incorporated prior research and data into their solutions is considered.
  • Poster Presentation Skills: Judges evaluate the clarity, persuasiveness, and professionalism of the team's poster presentation.
  • Poster Quality and Visual Appeal: Assess the quality of the A2 posters in terms of visual appeal, creativity, and how well they engage the audience.
  • Campus Quest Edition: The ability to work efficiently, meet the 1.5-hour deadline, and finish the puzzles before their presentation. 

COMPETITION FORMAT


  • Team Formation: Teams of (Minimum of 3 and a Maximum of 4 students) are formed, ensuring diversity in business disciplines.
  • Preparation: Prior to the competition day, each team is provided with a complex business scenario, along with relevant data and resources. Teams are expected to conduct preliminary research, prepare a strategy based on their respective expertise, and submit their poster presentations with size A2.

COMPETITION DAY


  • Campus Quest (1.5 hours): On competition day, teams will be tased with solving clues that will lead them to a new location of the university campus. They will receive puzzle pieces, that they will then need to bring back to their original location and solve in order to complete the challenge. You must successfully solve these engaging puzzles and riddles to secure your opportunity to present your poster.
  • Poster Presentation (10 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes Q&A): Each team presents their solution to a panel of industry judges. You must explain your strategy, reasoning, and the application of research in your solution..
