
Talents galore at Middlesex University Dubai’s Annual Youth Festival

Middlesex University Dubai’s Annual Youth Festival is a platform that celebrates and recognises talents among our students. It brings together talent from across the University.
The Grand Finale was held on Thursday 22 March 2018 at the DUCTAC Theatre, Mall of the Emirates. The event witnessed talents across categories, showcasing phenomenal performances from Middlesex singers, actors, dancers and many more…
To mark this occasion, famous Bollywood Singer Hemaa Sardesai was the special judge for the singing competition. She had the chance to evaluate the best singers and musicians in the finals, selected from over 50 students, who enrolled in the singing competition.
Hemaa was also presented with an award of appreciation by Middlesex University Dubai’s Director, Dr. Cedwyn Fernandes.
The festival that began on 10 March 2018 saw participation from more than 1000 students who competed over semi-finals and quarter-finals across categories such as singing, rap, dance, short skits, acting, fashion shows and so much more to enter the finals.
Winners were announced at the end of the evening after careful and thorough evaluation by the judging panel comprising of Middlesex University Dubai academic staff in addition to the famous Bollywood Singer, Hemaa Sardesai.
Dr. Cedwyn Fernandes, Director of Middlesex University Dubai, said, “The Youth Festival is more than just a competition, it is a chance for students to explore interests and passion outside the classroom.” He further added, “We were thrilled to witness the varied talents our students hold, with more than 100 nations represented at the university, the performances were so diverse. I would like to congratulate the winners and all participants who made the event one to remember.”
On Hemaa Sardesai’s presence at the event, he further added, “Having her as a judge, just took the event to a whole new level. It was a great source of inspiration for our students who were excited to meet her. We are honoured to be able to witness her new international hit, ’Power of Love’ with a choreographed performance from our students, played at the festival.”
Hemaa Sardesai, Indian playback singer and international star said, “I was delighted to receive the invite from Middlesex University Dubai. I have always admired students who go beyond the classroom and pursue their dream. It was an absolute pleasure to see that talent and passion for performance arts still exist across all generations. I would like to wish them success in all their future endeavours. ”
