StreetLaw Programme Launched by MDX Law Department

The Department of Law and Politics at Middlesex University (MDX) Dubai have announced its partnership with leading law firm Pinsent Masons for the launch of the StreetLaw Programme. 

Kicking off in October 2024, the initiative aims to promote legal literacy among students in UAE schools through interactive workshops delivered by selected law students and lawyers.

The StreetLaw Programme will focus on essential legal topics relevant to today’s youth, including:

  • Social Media and the Law
  • Consumer Protection
  • Environmental Rights
  • Employment Law

Under the guidance of Senior Law Lecturer Dr Daphne Demetriou and Law Teaching Assistant Arshiya Munir, the programme seeks to equip young people with the knowledge they need to navigate legal issues that may impact their social, educational, and professional decisions.

Dr Daphne said: “We are thrilled to collaborate with Pinsent Masons on this initiative.

“This programme not only aims to enhance legal literacy among students but also provides our law students with invaluable hands-on experience in clinical legal education.”

Pinset Masons is a full-service law firm integrating law into a range of other professional services in areas such as technology, infrastructure, real estate, and financial services. They value bold and innovative solutions, with a commitment to ethics, community and environmental responsibility.  

The joint initiative represents a significant step towards fostering a better understanding of legal rights and responsibilities among the youth in the United Arab Emirates. By engaging with students in a learner-driven format, the programme aims to create an interactive environment that encourages critical thinking and informed decision-making.

In addition to the StreetLaw Programme, MDX Dubai is committed to various pro bono initiatives that support community engagement and legal education.
