MDXcelerator: Expo City Dubai Foundation and Changemakers Join MDX Dubai Students for Workshop Session

On 4 March The MDX Innovation Hub (MIH) and Careers and Employability Services of Middlesex University (MDX) Dubai had the privilege of hosting an inspiring session facilitated by members of the Expo City Dubai Foundation, where students explored how The Changemakers Academy is equipping young innovators with the tools, resources, and support needed to transform bold ideas into real-world social and environmental solutions.
The session, run as part of the annual MDXcelerator programme , provided valuable insights into the Academy’s mission of fostering innovation across key sectors such as sustainability, education, and social impact. Students gained a deeper understanding of the initiatives and programmes available to support problem-solving, leadership development, and entrepreneurial thinking—all crucial skills for shaping a more sustainable and inclusive future.
The Changemakers Academy builds upon the success of the previous Expo Live University Innovation Programme, which received over 1,000 applications from universities in the UAE.
A key highlight of the session was the discussion on grants and funding opportunities, empowering students with the knowledge of how they can access financial support to bring their projects to life. By learning about these resources, participants were encouraged to take action on pressing global challenges and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
The session served as a powerful reminder that young changemakers have the potential to drive impactful change when given the right support and opportunities.
