The robotics industry has seen a monumental rise in popularity and demand in the last few years. Robotics has transformed into a multidisciplinary field, with potential applications across society, including healthcare, manufacturing, space exploration and even understanding human nature itself. Especially given the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, collaboration between robots and humans to carry out tasks has never been more crucial. This masterclass will provide participants with an overview of Human-Robot Interaction, with a particular focus on telepresence robots. Participants will gain an understanding of how robots and humans can work together in collaborative environments, and the various commercially available robots that are being used for this purpose. In addition, there will be an interactive discussion about state-of-the-art research being carried out in these disciplines. The session will provide a teaser of the curriculum covered in the MSc Robotics programme.
