“Virtual Center of Women & Leadership’ – Theory to Practice”

Professor Linzi Kemp

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to address an alarming gap between the abundance of women in college and absence of women in business in the Arab Gulf states. Realizing that the higher the corporate ladder went, the lower the number of women present, an exploration was conducted through various qualitative studies. Sample groups of women living and working in the United Arab Emirates were formed. Data were collected, through recorded interviews, from these participants' narrations of their life histories to date. Narrative analysis of transcript data identified emergent themes. The contribution to academic knowledge from these studies is of themes that emerge at the confluence of women's personal/professional lives. The value for praxis arises from insight into influences on women’s employment, retention and promotion decisions. This research has societal impact in contribution to the United Nations sustainable goal 5 'Gender Equality'.  The research is a legacy of womens’ leadership in UAE at  https://www.wiluae.com/
