We are pleased to invite you to our Wednesday Research Seminar. It will be held in hybrid mode on 25th October from 4pm at Oasis Theatre and via Microsoft team platform. Wednesday Research Seminar Series was launched in 2008 and has featured more than 340 presentations to date. The seminars provide a forum for researchers to share their work. Presenters include faculty from Middlesex University Dubai and other universities in the United Arab Emirates, as well as researchers from other global institutions. Arash will deliver seminar on:
“A Recommender System for Real Estate”

Abstract
Collaborative filtering is a famous method in recommender systems. In this talk, collaborative filtering as a method for real estate recommender systems will be discussed. The purpose of such recommender systems is to enhance sales and rent of real estate properties by recommending suitable housing to individuals. As one of the technologies behind the collaborative filtering, dimensionality reduction using non-negative matrix factorisation will be briefly explained.
Presenters
Dr Arash Kemani is a data scientist and a visiting professor of data science and AI. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Germany. Arash has amassed experience through his work in the Aviation and Automotive industries of Germany, including companies such as Lufthansa. He has also contributed his expertise at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence. Kemani’s interest and experience predominantly lie in Recommender Systems, which prompted him to choose to discuss a case involving their application in Real Estate.
