Profile of the speaker:
Areeba, is a specialist in Islamic Finance and banking with a doctorate from Aligarh Muslim University, India. Her area of expertise are: Islamic Finance, Islamic Equity Indices, Sukuks, Shariah Law, Corporate Governance and Portfolio management. She has experience in three core sectors of finance, banking and real estate. She has previously worked for Axis Bank as Assistant Manager (Operations) and also as a Lecturer at Aligarh Muslim University. Her doctorate research focused on the performance evaluation of Islamic and conventional equity indices around the globe. As part of her research, she drew upon data during the global financial crisis and post crisis periods and analyzed 42 countries where in the Islamic indices had their conventional counterparts. Her research interests are in Portfolio Management, Equity Indices, Islamic Finance, Islamic Law and Corporate Law. Areeba has published 2 papers in Scopus Indexed Journals and two in Indian Journals. Areeba has expert proficiency in several data analysis software including, R, Eviews, IBM SPSS and Stata. Areeba also has experience working in the UAE real estate sector where she carried out research in the real estate market.
