  • Sunday, 8 August 2021

Middlesex University Dubai is proud to announce that 92 of our students have been awarded internships across various departments at Expo 2020, the World Expo mega-event taking place in Dubai from 1st October 2021 to 31st March 2022!

Expo 2020 offered this amazing opportunity to Middlesex University Dubai students after a rigorous selection process. During their internships, students will engage with a range of roles, learning vital career skills in an exciting global environment that will be invaluable when they begin their future careers. They will witness and experience the latest products and innovations, meet and learn from people from all over the world, and network with representatives of the world’s most innovative organisations.

Members of our faculty are also prominent members of the Expo 2020 team. Dr. Evangelos Moustakas, Associate Professor in Leadership and Digital Transformation and Head of our Centre of Innovation and Excellence, is the Team Leader of the Sustainability Pavilion. The role of the Pavilion Team Leader is to lead and motivate its team members and provide expert operational oversight regarding the visitor experience within the Sustainability Pavilion. Dr. Evangelos was also instrumental in securing these internships for the students.

Dr. Cedwyn Fernandes, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Middlesex University and Director of Middlesex University Dubai, said: “At Middlesex University Dubai, we focus on providing our students with opportunities to build their skills and enhance their employability outside the classroom, and I am proud that we are one of a very select group of universities who can provide this internship to our students. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our students to be a part of something really special: Expo 2020, The World’s Greatest Show. They will benefit from impressive work experience in an international, innovative and truly unique working environment, which will help them stand out from the crowd.”

Muskaan Dembla, BA Accounting and Finance student in her third year, has been offered an internship in Expo 2020’s Media department. She said: “During the internship, I will get to get to work with a lot of different people and I will be able to explore my talents. It will also add to my career as a new graduate as I will get to improve myself as a young professional. I’m so grateful for this opportunity, and it helps me to serve the country I’ve been calling home for a while now.”

Middlesex University Dubai is thankful to Expo 2020 for providing our students with the opportunity to be part of the World’s Greatest Show, which will be the largest event ever held in the Arab world and the first World Expo ever held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
