The 2nd Teaching and Learning Conference

  • Wednesday, 16 June 2021

The 2nd Teaching and Learning Conference organised by the Teaching and Learning Committee was held on 16th June 2021 virtually and was a great success! The conference contributes to establishing a community of pedagogic practice at our University and beyond via the exchange of ideas, provision of peer support and developmental reflection.

Participants and delegates explored the digital transformation in HE from different perspectives and various approaches. We had 33 contributions by academics, representatives of various disciplines, our colleagues at Middlesex Dubai and externals from many HE Institutions from the region and the UK, including many colleagues from our London Campus. There were 11 sessions, many of them held in parallel throughout the morning and afternoon. The Conference also hosted a unique Design Thinking Workshop which was fully booked days in advance! We had over 100 delegates attending the daylong conference.

We were honoured to host a distinguished guest to deliver a welcome message, Dr Nancy Gleason, Director of the Hilary Ballon Centre for Teaching and Learning at NYU Abu Dhabi and two inspiring keynotes: Dr Emily Mcintosh, our very own Director of Learning, Teaching and Student Experience from our London Campus; and Professor Ben Brabon, Academic Lead on Arts Humanities and Social Sciences from Advance HE.

The conference was coordinated and organized by the TLC sub-committee comprising of Mariam Aslam, Laura Barber, Dawn England and Tenia Kyriazi
