MBA Students Visit Paris
- January 28 2019
Students from Middlesex University Dubai’s MBA programme recently visited Paris for a week to study the luxury fashion industry as part of their programme. The students worked on two live projects; one identifying and commenting on best retail practice in luxury outlets, and the other evaluating the consistency of Bvlgari’s extension into the fragrance and beauty sectors. A highlight of the trip was an exclusive visit to L’Atelier Lesage, who create opulent embroidering requiring countless hours of work and exceptional skills for haute couture, ready-to-wear and accessories since its establishment in 1924.
Dr Alun Epps accompanied the students and praised them for achieving so much in a limited amount of time. The course was led by professors from Bocconi University, and involved a module’s worth of material compressed into one week. With a unique blend of classroom learning, guest speakers from luxury fashion retail, discussions and industry visits, teams of MBA students conducted independent research and their presentations were of a very high standard – earning accolades from the teaching team in Paris.
The Dubai group leader said “The Paris trip was a venture into another universe of business altogether and the MBA group were shown a window into a world that ‘mere mortals’ rarely have access to. The level of participation and devotion shown by the students deserves a lot of credit.’
