Middlesex student Maher Jabri
Maher made it to the top three amongst 300 entries and went through a series of rounds and a rigorous vetting process. Speaking about his venture Maher said that “ X-control is a company that is focused on providing low cost home automation solution for a new segment of customers which are in the medium income group. The customer’s existing smart devices will be configured to control the home automation systems thus reducing costs. The luxury of home automation will no longer be restricted to the very high end of the market but middle income groups staying in apartments can also enjoy this luxury”.
Even though Maher was not the eventual winner the experience that the Big Start Competition provided has motivated him to look at launching his own business in the near future.
Maher was mentored by Dr. Okan Geray a specialist in Strategy at Middlesex University Dubai. Dr. Cedwyn Fernandes Middlesex MBA Program leader said that “ The Middlesex MBA with its focus on entrepreneurship and consultancy and its practical orientation provides the right background for our graduates to succeed in the business”.
