FLN: Conventional and Alternative Career Paths for Law Graduates


The 9th meeting of the Future Lawyers Network was held on Sunday 17th February at 4 pm at our Campus in Dubai Knowledge Park. Our panelists engaged in an interactive discussion with students on conventional and alternative career paths for law graduates. They shared their stories and highlighted challenges, opportunities faced in the course of their successful careers!

Our panel consisted of the following distinguished guests: 

Ms Alison Hosking

Head of Knowledge Management, Al Tamimi & Co

Allison Hosking is the Head of Knowledge Management at Al Tamimi & Co where she oversees a team responsible for all aspects of the firm’s knowledge management strategy across their 17 offices. Prior to joining Al Tamimi, Allison worked for over a decade for a magic circle law firm as a senior knowledge and learning manager working in their London, New York and Dubai offices. She is a qualified lawyer and has worked and practised in several jurisdictions including Chile, the USA and India. Allison has a university teaching qualification, is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and spent four years teaching at Nottingham Law School on their post graduate law courses.

Ms Niamh Gallagher

After completing her LL.M in European Law at Maastricht University, Niev started her career in Brussels. Niev joined Fragomen Global LLP, a leading immigration law firm, to work as part of their Dutch immigration team. When Fragomen made the strategic decision to open a Swiss office, Niev joined the Swiss team and worked on building up the technical knowledge and client base to support the new office. Niev then was seconded to Zurich for the launch of the office and the first few months of operations. Subsequently Niev moved to Fragomen’s London office to support a particular Fortune 100 account with their EMEIA wide immigration program. For this same client, Niev then moved to Fragomen’s Dubai office in 2014. In 2016 Niev joined EY’s MENA immigration practice and now leads this offering and manages a regional team of specialists who offer immigration and tax mobility services to corporate clients.
