A networking event for HE support practitioners to share expertise and good practice. The round-table discussions will bring together student support and counselling professionals from universities in Dubai to share their experiences in supporting inclusivity in Higher Education.

Keynote speaker: Dr Sean Pavitt, Senior Inspector for Inclusive Education at KHDA
Sean Pavitt has been instrumental in developing Dubai’s inclusive education strategy under the leadership of the inclusive education task force and the executive council. Sean has worked in the special education sector for 25 years, and has been immersed in the lives of persons of determination for his entire life. After becoming one of the youngest principals in the UK, he went on to lead 3 special schools. He has led on inclusive reform at local authority level and has facilitated a number of national leadership development programs. He is a qualified teacher and holds further postgraduate qualifications relating to Special Educational Needs and Psychotherapy.
Topic leader – Foreign Language Learning
Dr. Christina Gitsaki, Research Coordinator at the Center for Educational Innovation, Zayed University and Executive Secretary General of the International Association of Applied Linguistics. Dr. Christina’s areas of expertise are second language acquisition and teaching pedagogy. She has extensive HE teaching experience, has presented her research at over 122 international conferences, has been an invited speaker at over 40 professional events and her writing has been published widely. She is the author, editor, and co-editor of 12 books on language education research.

Toleen Badawi, Executive Master Coach and NLP Practitioner working at The Human Relations Institute and Clinics Dubai, and adjunct lecturer in Psychology at Middlesex University Dubai
Toleen’s coaching and mentoring revolves around clients with depression, anxiety, bipolarity, life transitioning, self-development and identifying their true purpose in life. She is passionate about coaching parents of children with special needs and helping them through the process of transitioning into their new life and what all that means to them personally and as a family. Her philosophy consists of balancing the Wheel of Life so no one area of life overtakes other areas.

Mrs Siobhan McNiff
Siobhan is Learning Support Counselor at Middlesex University Dubai. She is a dyslexia practitioner and an expert study skills tutor with a clear understanding of university level writing skills and disability support. Enthusiastic staff trainer in areas of disability awareness, including legal compliance. Negotiates and implements individual learning plans to enable students to demonstrate their learning potential.
