Fun and Adventure at Dubai Safari Park for MDX Faculty Away-Day
On 7 March 2024, the faculty at Middlesex University Dubai left campus and took off for an adventure at Dubai Safari Park. Organised by the Teaching and Learning Committee, the staff embarked on a journey that included train and bus rides for safari exploration, giraffe feeding, bird shows, and a walk through the African village, participating in various activities before lunch. They enjoyed Dubai Safari Park’s main attraction—the guided Safari Village drive-through, where they were taken on a journey through African and Asian villages to explore the wildlife up close in the Safari buses. The safari guides shared exciting stories and fun facts about crocodiles, buffalos, lions, tigers, hippos, rhinos, zebras, baboons, antelopes, hyenas, giraffes, and more.‘Away-Days’ are an opportunity for faculty get to know each other, form bonds, share ideas, and introduce new faculty members without the academic setting of campus.The day was nothing short of thrilling, as they explored the nature and wildlife, exhilarating activities, and team bonding activities. The faculty got a chance to closely interact with various animals, large and small, including mammals, reptiles, and birds. They also learned about the research, conservation, and wildlife preservation initiatives of Dubai Safari Park.

MDX Dubai will commence its Summer Camp yet again this July, welcoming both domestic and international students with a line-up of exciting workshops, adventures, and trips to some thrilling destinations in Dubai. Students will explore key areas such as Business, Computer Engineering, Fashion, Media, Law, and beyond as they embark on an interesting journey to prepare themselves for their academic endeavours.What makes Summer Camp at MDX special is the opportunity to collaborate with students from around the globe, form new friendships, and create unforgettable memories throughout an extensive range of programmes. Students will be taken on a journey of specialist discovery sessions, academic skills workshops, soft skills sessions, and thrilling outings across Dubai. The Summer Camp begins with orientation activities and campus exploration and the rest of the programmes extend beyond the classroom, offering students exhilarating excursions and engaging adventures.Throughout the week, the students will partake in incredibly insightful university immersion sessions, diving deep into the fascinating world of Robotics and AI, getting introduced to British Law, and exploring the mind in a Psychology workshop. Additionally, they will explore filmmaking and creativity through sessions led by our MDX Studios faculty.Reflecting on her experience from Summer Camp 2023, Sofiya emphasised the unforgettable interactions with teachers and classmates: “All the teachers made the sessions very unforgettable!”Bhavini expressed her excitement about the availability of a range of classes: “My favourite part of the entire experience has been talking to the Film teacher. It’s a passion of mine to create music and short films, and hopefully I can see myself pursuing that direction.”Another student highlighted the Business courses as a favourite and many of the campers deeply enjoyed the excursions around Dubai.Campers will also discover Dubai as a destination for both education and leisure, experiencing attractions like the famous Burj Khalifa, Dubai Frame, and desert safari. They will immerse themselves in the UAE’s diverse culture, cuisine, and way of life. MDX Accounting and Finance Students Awarded Scholarships from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)
Recently, five of our top Accounting and Finance students—who were nominated because of their remarkable academic performance—were awarded the IMA Scholarship. IMA is one of the largest and most reputable associations dedicated to developing the management accounting profession, with over 140,000 members across 150 countries.Aashna Malhan, Hasan Khan, Nicole Baretto, Nathan Bobby, and Mahek Kherajani were the recipients of this prestigious IMA Scholarship. The Class of 2023 Shoot for the Stars at Graduation, Welcoming UAE Astronaut His Excellency Dr Sultan AlNeyadi
2 March and 3 March 2024 were inspiring and exciting days for the MDX Class of 2023, as the students celebrated their long-awaited graduation ceremonies at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai. Over 1,000 graduates crossed the stage to collect their scrolls, leaving as official alumni of Middlesex University Dubai.This year, the theme of each ceremony was exploration: both in teaching and in spirit.Students in the second ceremony on 2 March had the honour of being addressed by His Excellency Dr Sultan Saif AlNeyadi, renowned globally as one of the first two astronauts from the United Arab Emirates, and the first Arab to spend six months on the International Space Station (ISS) and perform a spacewalk during the expedition 69. His Excellency was being rewarded with a prestigious Honorary Doctorate, which recognises the recipient’s significant contribution to advancing the UAE in alignment with the values of the University.During his speech, His Excellency showcased the value of starting on one’s professional path without restrictions, and he took the graduates on a journey of inspiration and empowerment. His Excellency highlighted to students that through studying hard, he was able to qualify for a life-changing career, emphasising that the next UAE astronaut could infact be one of the graduating students of Class of 2023.His Excellency Dr Sultan Saif AlNeyadi said: “I am delighted to attend the graduation of the class of 2023 here at Middlesex University Dubai. Not only does she hold an impressive role in a major UAE company, but she is also an adventurer, who became the first Arab woman to undertake a successful ‘unsupported and unassisted’ skiing expedition to the North Pole.Middlesex University’s emphasis on technology, innovation and exploration equip students to thrive in today’s competitive global job market and with necessary skills to meaningfully contribute to the advancing vision of the UAE and Dubai’s D33 economic initiative. Her journey began during the COVID-19 pandemic when she enrolled in an International Foundation Programme at Middlesex University Dubai after completing her IGSCE. Now, she serves as a Marketing Coordinator within the university staff, collaborating with peers she met during voluntary work in her second year.Shannara said: "Reflecting on my time at Middlesex University Dubai, I found that participating in activities such as volunteering at clubs and events like Halloween and breast cancer awareness initiatives enabled me to forge meaningful connections with students from various cultural backgrounds." Encouraging Inclusion: MDX Inspires Equality Through a Panel Discussion for International Women's Day, Hosted by the School of Law and Politics and Juris
"The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights." - Gloria SteinemEmbracing the global theme of #InspireInclusion for International Women’s Day, Middlesex University Dubai's School of Law and Politics and Juris hosted the annual International Women's Day panel on 5 March. The panel featured four remarkable women from various fields within the legal profession and related occupations. The aim was to highlight the importance of fostering inclusivity by understanding, supporting, encouraging, and paving the way for women and girls to feel valued and includedDuring the panel discussion at MDX IWD 2024, attendees were inspired by the personal experiences shared by the panellists, who explained what inclusion meant to them and how they actively contribute to creating a more inclusive society, both personally and professionally. Moderated by Mahine Rizvi Ahmad, Senior Lecturer in Law and Politics at MDX, the discussion covered topics ranging from unconscious and conscious bias, to creating inclusive work environments and understanding inclusion through an intersectional lens.One of the panellists, Yosr Hamza, Head of Legal and Director of Legal and Compliance at Gartner, emphasised the importance of promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the legal profession and beyond. She also highlighted her advocacy for authentic leadership, disability rights, and women’s empowerment. Noorah Suhaib, Legal Counsel at CEVA Logistics, shared her experiences of mentoring students at the School of Law, reflecting her commitment to paying it forward and empowering other women and girls. She was recently nominated by Modern Counsel in its prestigious 35 Under 35 cohort, a distinguished acknowledgement of young and exceptional legal professionals who represent the next generation of lawyers.Fiona Robertson, General Counsel at OSN, brought her extensive experience as an internationally experienced media lawyer to the discussion, providing insights into the legal and commercial aspects of the media, creative, advertising, sports, and entertainment industries.Nicole Malick, an international social worker and yoga therapist from MDX School of Law, shared her expertise in designing and leading programmes addressing sustainability, gender equity, and community development.The panel also addressed the importance of recognising gender bias as an economic issue and encouraging companies to prioritise diversity and inclusion initiatives. Recently, five of our top Accounting and Finance students—who were nominated because of their remarkable academic performance—were awarded the IMA Scholarship. IMA is one of the largest and most reputable associations dedicated to developing the management accounting profession, with over 140,000 members across 150 countries.Aashna Malhan, Hasan Khan, Nicole Baretto, Nathan Bobby, and Mahek Kherajani were the recipients of this prestigious IMA Scholarship. The Class of 2023 Shoot for the Stars at Graduation, Welcoming UAE Astronaut His Excellency Dr Sultan AlNeyadi
2 March and 3 March 2024 were inspiring and exciting days for the MDX Class of 2023, as the students celebrated their long-awaited graduation ceremonies at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai. Over 1,000 graduates crossed the stage to collect their scrolls, leaving as official alumni of Middlesex University Dubai.This year, the theme of each ceremony was exploration: both in teaching and in spirit.Students in the second ceremony on 2 March had the honour of being addressed by His Excellency Dr Sultan Saif AlNeyadi, renowned globally as one of the first two astronauts from the United Arab Emirates, and the first Arab to spend six months on the International Space Station (ISS) and perform a spacewalk during the expedition 69. His Excellency was being rewarded with a prestigious Honorary Doctorate, which recognises the recipient’s significant contribution to advancing the UAE in alignment with the values of the University.During his speech, His Excellency showcased the value of starting on one’s professional path without restrictions, and he took the graduates on a journey of inspiration and empowerment. His Excellency highlighted to students that through studying hard, he was able to qualify for a life-changing career, emphasising that the next UAE astronaut could infact be one of the graduating students of Class of 2023.His Excellency Dr Sultan Saif AlNeyadi said: “I am delighted to attend the graduation of the class of 2023 here at Middlesex University Dubai. Not only does she hold an impressive role in a major UAE company, but she is also an adventurer, who became the first Arab woman to undertake a successful ‘unsupported and unassisted’ skiing expedition to the North Pole.Middlesex University’s emphasis on technology, innovation and exploration equip students to thrive in today’s competitive global job market and with necessary skills to meaningfully contribute to the advancing vision of the UAE and Dubai’s D33 economic initiative. Her journey began during the COVID-19 pandemic when she enrolled in an International Foundation Programme at Middlesex University Dubai after completing her IGSCE. Now, she serves as a Marketing Coordinator within the university staff, collaborating with peers she met during voluntary work in her second year.Shannara said: "Reflecting on my time at Middlesex University Dubai, I found that participating in activities such as volunteering at clubs and events like Halloween and breast cancer awareness initiatives enabled me to forge meaningful connections with students from various cultural backgrounds." Encouraging Inclusion: MDX Inspires Equality Through a Panel Discussion for International Women's Day, Hosted by the School of Law and Politics and Juris

The panel featured four remarkable women from various fields within the legal profession and related occupations. The aim was to highlight the importance of fostering inclusivity by understanding, supporting, encouraging, and paving the way for women and girls to feel valued and includedDuring the panel discussion at MDX IWD 2024, attendees were inspired by the personal experiences shared by the panellists, who explained what inclusion meant to them and how they actively contribute to creating a more inclusive society, both personally and professionally. Moderated by Mahine Rizvi Ahmad, Senior Lecturer in Law and Politics at MDX, the discussion covered topics ranging from unconscious and conscious bias, to creating inclusive work environments and understanding inclusion through an intersectional lens.One of the panellists, Yosr Hamza, Head of Legal and Director of Legal and Compliance at Gartner, emphasised the importance of promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the legal profession and beyond. She also highlighted her advocacy for authentic leadership, disability rights, and women’s empowerment. Noorah Suhaib, Legal Counsel at CEVA Logistics, shared her experiences of mentoring students at the School of Law, reflecting her commitment to paying it forward and empowering other women and girls. She was recently nominated by Modern Counsel in its prestigious 35 Under 35 cohort, a distinguished acknowledgement of young and exceptional legal professionals who represent the next generation of lawyers.Fiona Robertson, General Counsel at OSN, brought her extensive experience as an internationally experienced media lawyer to the discussion, providing insights into the legal and commercial aspects of the media, creative, advertising, sports, and entertainment industries.Nicole Malick, an international social worker and yoga therapist from MDX School of Law, shared her expertise in designing and leading programmes addressing sustainability, gender equity, and community development.The panel also addressed the importance of recognising gender bias as an economic issue and encouraging companies to prioritise diversity and inclusion initiatives. The event was attended by students, faculty, and administrative staff at MDX, who enjoyed the meaningful discussions and insights into fostering inclusion in the legal profession and beyond.

All non-national students in the UAE must have a Student Visa, and the process of applying is simple, fast and efficient. Middlesex University Dubai will provide visas for applicants studying on our academic programmes, after you have accepted your Offer of Admission and cleared all fees. Easy!
