Dr Alison Joy Burrows

Biography

Alison has been awarded the Doctor of Education Technology Integration from the prestigious Johns Hopkins University: School of Education. She is the recipient of a merit scholarship and The Aileen and Albert Schiffman Fellowship in EdTech Research. Alison completed her Masters of Education at New York University in New York City and received her Bachelor’s degree in development psychology from Bard College in New York.

Alison’s learning and teaching interests center around enabling teachers to improve their pedagogical practices to increase student achievement through the meaningful use of digital tools. Her skillset and research focus on overcoming teacher barriers to technology integration, the evaluation and integration of digital tools to support teacher practice and student achievement, alignment of digital tools to brain-based learning, and leveraging both gamification and game-based learning components in technology assisted learning.

Alison holds a professional certification in teaching from the New York State Department of Education. She also has a certificate in Montessori Education from The Center for Montessori Teacher Education. Alison is a member of the International Society for Technology Education (ISTE) and The American Educational Research Association (AERA). Alison has written and integrated professional learning programs into private international schools throughout the MENA region. She also wrote an extensive curriculum which was published by The Super Sprowtz, a nutrition education company, and was implemented into schools and children’s hospitals across New York State.
