- Wednesday, 20 April 2022
Middlesex University Dubai has just concluded the first IFRS Industry Mentorship Programme organised for its final year BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance students. Launched in October 2021, the programme involved seven accounting and finance professionals mentoring 33 students over four months.
Across three rounds, the students had the opportunity to interact with three different mentors, brainstorming practical issues relating to the presentation of financial statements (IAS 1, IFRS 10), assets (IAS 2, 16, 36, 38, 40), revenue (IFRS 15), and leases (IFRS 16).
The mentors were TP Anand, CA Rishi Chawla, CA Aashna M, CA Hemant Mundhra, CA Chirag Agarwal, CA Renjith Radha and CA Indu Krishnan. The closing ceremony was held on campus on 29th March 2022, which also saw two of our students, Yvette Yashwantha and Sanjana Sridhar, moderating a panel discussion with these mentors on the impact assessment of the UAE Corporate Tax Law to be introduced in 2023.
Pallavi Kishore, Campus Programme Coordinator - Undergraduate and Postgraduate Accounting and Finance, said: “Initiatives like these involving collaboration with industry professionals provide our students with a well-rounded University experience and prepare them to take on their first job. It is no coincidence that most of our graduates find an internship or full-time job soon after graduation.”
