- Thursday, 9 December 2021
Dr Cody Morris Paris, Deputy Director of Academic Planning and Research at Middlesex University Dubai, has been elected as the President of the Travel and Tourism Research Association’s Asia Pacific Chapter.
The Asia Pacific Chapter is the newest chapter of the Travel and Tourism Research Association, and represents the largest geographic region extending from Australia and New Zealand through the Pacific nations, Asia, and parts of the Middle East.
The Travel and Tourism Research Association (https://ttra.com/) is a leading advocate for higher standards in travel and tourism-related research, analysis, and marketing. Established more than 50 years ago, TTRA is one of the oldest and one of the largest research organisations in the sector. The association unites the travel and tourism research community – university academics, professional practitioners, and users of research – so they can network, collaborate, and ideate in person and across borders.
Dr. Cody has served on the TTRA Asia Pacific Chapter executive board since 2016 and as the Vice President since 2019. In 2016, he chaired the TTRA APAC chapter conference hosted at Middlesex University Dubai. In 2017, he was part of the board when the TTRA APAC chapter won the Chapter of The Year award at the TTRA International Conference in Quebec City.
Cody has been an active member of the Travel and Tourism Research Association since 2007. In June 2018 he co-chaired the 50th Annual International Travel and Tourism Research Conference held in Melbourne, Australia, the first held in the Asia Pacific Region. His research has also been recognised by two prestigious TTRA awards. In 2013, his co-authored paper “A Quantified Triple Bottom Line for Tourism: Experimental Results” was awarded the TTRA Charles R Goeldner Article of Excellence. This prestigious annual award recognises the article, published in the preceding year in the Journal of Travel Research, which has been judged to make the greatest contribution to the tourism research literature in terms of its impact on tourism theory and management practice. Dr. Cody was also the recipient of the TTRA Keeling Dissertation Award in 2011, which recognised the best nominated PhD dissertation in the field of tourism from 2008-2011.
Middlesex University Dubai wishes a huge congratulations to Dr Paris on this momentous achievement!
