Student e-learning app idea wins MDX Undergraduate Business School Hackathon
- Wednesday, 14 July 2021
On Monday 12th July, Middlesex University Dubai’s Business School successfully hosted the virtual ‘MDX Undergraduate Business School Hackathon’ on ‘Transforming E-learning Experience – The Student’s Way’. The event was a great success, with close to 40 students and 10 teams participating in the competition.
The hackathon provided the opportunity for students to work collaboratively in converting their ideas for e-learning apps into a digital product prototype. The event also offered a great learning platform for students to bring ideas to life and develop digital solutions with rapid prototyping and testing. The students used their own experience and understanding of the various digital learning platforms to propose solutions either as a standalone application or add-ons to existing applications such as Microsoft Teams.
One of the highlights and takeaways of this event was the workshop on Prototype Development conducted by Dr. Krishnadas Nanath from our Computer Engineering and Informatics department.
We would like to wish a huge thank you to Dr Supriya Kaitheri, Dr Sreejith Balasubramanian and Mr Rory McConnon from our School of Business for conceptualising and organising the event. Commenting on the success of the hackathon, Dr Supriya Kaitheri said: “We were amazed by the creative and innovative ideas, enthusiasm, and teamwork shown by the teams. Competitions such as this help equip students with skills and experience in areas including design thinking, team work, and prototyping, which are necessary for a successful career in a digital economy.”
Mr Rory McConnon, Campus Programme Coordinator at Middlesex University Dubai, thanked the judges and the Marketing and IT Departments for providing the necessary support for the hackathon.
