MDX Dubai students participate in International Advertising Awards Apprenticeship Future Leaders Programme

Middlesex University Dubai’s third year students were invited to attend the IAA (InternationalAdvertising Awards) Apprenticeship Future Leaders Programme on 24 and 25 November 2020.

The IAA converted their annual face-to face conference into an online virtual 2 day event with 6hours of live interaction. It was aimed at helping senior students and faculty understand how tonavigate the transition from academia to a career in marketing and advertising. Up to 50 studentsfrom Middlesex’s Business and Media Studies departments currently in their final year of theirdegrees participated. They listened, practiced and networked with 21 industry speakers from theMENA region. The event included keynote presentations, discussions & workshops with regional &international industry practitioners, recruiters & clients; such as Nestle, Unilever, Coca Cola andEmirates NBD to name a few. Students were given tips, tools and plenty of guidance on how toembark on their journey in the Marketing, Advertising & Communications Industry.

Students were thrilled to have been part of such an amazing event, to have gained such insightsand knowledge from the industry’s experts, some even secured themselves job interviews via thenetworking breakout sessions. Middlesex’s close ties with the IAA provide the opportunity for studentsto be exposed to life after University, setting them up with the right tools and mindset for the futurethat lies ahead of them. As soon as the event finished, several students took to LinkedIn to sharetheir experience.

The students of the Accounting and Finance Department celebrated the success of the second edition of the Financial Modeling Club (FMC2.0) on 6 March 2024. Led by students, this year’s FMC 2.0 featured four upskilling workshops and two competitions. A total of fifty-five students secured the Foundations Certificate in Financial Modeling, offered by our academic partner, FMI. Special congratulations to Chirag Kherajani for earning the Financial Modeling Institute scholarship for Advanced Financial Modeling certification.
