TLC Faculty Training: Teacher Training Programme

  • Tuesday, 1 September 2020

In September 2020, in preparation for the start of the new academic year, the Teaching and Learning Committee put together a comprehensive faculty training programme to ensure continuity of learning in view of the restrictions in place due to COVID-19. The continuity of learning trainings were held over two weeks from Sunday 6 September to Wednesday 16 September and included sessions delivered during four days and repeated once (or twice in the case of learning platforms).

A total of 28 hours of training were attended by a large number of full time and adjunct faculty. This intensive training focused on developing knowledge and skills that are considered essential for a blended learning environment. The sessions included fundamental as well as advanced level sessions on four main topics: modes of study, learning platforms, e-learning tools, and strategies for cohort connectedness.

We are delighted to celebrate the remarkable community that we were able to create in order to reflect on our practice, exchange ideas and best practices and offer support to each other.

The training was very well received by faculty and helped to strengthen the existing community of practice that Middlesex University Dubai is extremely proud of.  Participants were fully engaged and shared best practices with the aim of exploring strategies to enhance student learning, motivation and engagement and to enrich the students’ experience in the classroom-virtual or in person.
