Middlesex University Dubai’s Institute of Entrepreneurship and Business Excellence organised a guest lecture on ‘Entrepreneurship and Practical Aspects of Managing Startups’ on 21 January 2018. The lecture was delivered by Mr Vishnu Deuskar and was well attended by students across all programmes.
Mr Vishnu Deuskar is the Managing Director, Salvus Advisors DMCC; the Principal Advisor to the Board at Gulf International Finance Ltd., DIFC; and sits on the Advisory Boards of Greenback Advisory Services, Trivantage Capital Management, and Amoda InfoTech. He is a seasoned banking and finance professional with 40 years of experience in the Middle East, India and Africa. Vishnu’s professional experience has been mainly in financial markets and trade finance, covering Debt and Trade Syndication, Equity, Foreign Exchange, Treasury Management and Project Finance. He also has considerable experience in Asset/Liability Management, Financial Risk Management and Financial Planning and Budgeting. Since 2011, Vishnu is a member of the International Panel of Judges for the Annual Wharton Business Plan Competition, The Wharton Business School, USA.
The lecture gave a practical and realistic outlook on the do’s and don’ts for startups. Starting from the basics of an idea to its development, the lecture took the students through some very interesting examples of qualified success stories as well as resounding failures. The students were also introduced to various options of financing available and a practical guide on how to choose the best option. The students gained valuable insight from a potential investor point of view and thoroughly enjoyed the session.
