To celebrate the Year of Giving,a distinguished guest lecturer Ms. Jumana Abu-Hannoud, Managing Director of SOS Children’s Village International, Gulf Area Office, was invited to Middlesex University Dubai.
Jumana comes from a seat of policy making in the humanitarian and public service field, having served as Chief of Staff for HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Throughout her 18+ years of experience in executive management, entrepreneurship, corporate affairs, sustainability, external relations and fundraising she worked for government, United Nations, NGO’s, start-ups and the private sector where she was heavily involved in designing national and international campaigns and strategies. In recognition of her contribution in the humanitarian sector, she was awarded the Emirates Woman of the Year and the Humanitarian of the Year awards for 2017. Jumana spoke about sustainable development and about the role of the SOS Children Villages in the region. The session between the speaker and the audience was quite interactive and informative. Students from International Tourism Management, Media, Law and Psychology were present.
The event was organized by Ms Lulu Baddar, Senior Lecturer in Tourism and Hospitality and Campus Programme Coordinator in International Tourism Management at Middlesex University Dubai.
