Middlesex University Dubai bid farewell to Vice Chancellor Prof. Michael Driscoll who is retiring this July. Prof. Driscoll has been the Vice Chancellor of Middlesex University in the UK for the past 19 years and leaves the University after more than 25 years of service.
In a poignant farewell ceremony at Knowledge Village Dubai Prof. Waqar Ahmed Pro-Vice Chancellor spoke about the outstanding contributions of Prof. Driscoll to the development of Middlesex University by providing an outstanding campus environment and improving the academic ranking and research output of the University.
Dr. Misho Ravic Co-Chairman of Middlesex University Dubai lauded Prof. Driscoll for his foresight in being one of the early pioneers amongst UK universities and setting up a Branch campus in Dubai. Middlesex University Dubai which was set up in 2005 and under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor the university is now amongst the largest private universities in Dubai.
Dr. Cedwyn Fernandes Acting Director of Middlesex University Dubai thanked the Vice Chancellor who as Middlesex University Dubai’s first Vice Chancellor will always have a special place amongst students and Staff. Middlesex University Dubai has over 3500 graduates most of whom received their degrees from Prof. Driscoll.
The Vice Chancellor said “ I am delighted that Middlesex University Dubai in a short period of time has established itself as a leading University in the region. The growth of the university mirrored the dynamic of Dubai and this was possible due to the dedication and efforts of the faculty, staff and students”.
