Middlesex Group in Milan
In these recessionary times the Luxury goods industry grew at 10% in 2011 making it an important sector to study and learn lessons from which could be applied to other industries. What better place to study this industry than in the world capital of luxury fashion, Milan, Italy. As part of their Applied Learning Experience Middlesex MBA students spent a week in Milan understanding the industry dynamics and working on a Live case study.
The MBA teams attended workshops given by Prof. Stefania Saviolo and Prof. Erica Corbellini two of the most renowned academics in the luxury goods industry and authors of the book “ Managing Fashion and Luxury Companies’. Field work was assigned which was carried out in Milan’s most prominent fashion district the rectangle of gold the d’Oro via della Spiga which covers via Manzoni, via Sant’Andrea and via Montenapoleone. Top brand management consultant Tomaso Galli JTG Consulting and ex-corporate Communications Director at Prada and Gucci interacted with the students and spoke on the turnaround strategy of a prominent brand.
Dr. Cedwyn Fernandes, Head of MBA Programme, who accompanied the students said “ Middlesex MBA students were quick to apply their academic models to a new industry, culture and business environment. The Middlesex MBA is one of the few MBAs in the region that provides it graduates with an international learning experience”.
