This Quality Café session which will help us improve our understanding of how re-assessments and deferral procedures operate and how we can support students better. There are new guidelines particularly around Extenuating Circumstances which allow students to gain deferrals of assessments.
Claims for extenuating circumstances are managed and considered in accordance with the Assessment Regulations (Section D8): “personal circumstances which have affected a student’s performance in an assessment and are brought to the attention of the Assessment Board when considering academic performance. An application for extenuating circumstances will only be considered if the circumstances meet the following criteria: The circumstances are exceptional; they are outside of the control of the student; and original supporting documentary evidence is provided”
All academic colleagues will find this session especially useful as we head into the main assessment period for September starter students.
