An introduction for staff to Student Wellness Support Groups


This week’s Knowledge Café will host a session organised by our university’s Taskforce for Happiness and Wellbeing on ‘Wellness Support groups’, which are conducted once in every learning week by Ms Aditi Bhatia, Lecturer in Psychology, for students across all programmes. Staff members including faculty will benefit from familiarising themselves with the work of these groups in case they wish to refer students. The session intends to discuss the functioning of these wellness support groups, identifying students who might need the support, and providing a pathway to refer students who can benefit from this platform.

The wellness support group ( is a peer-driven initiative that is aimed at creating a safe and non-judgmental environment that allows students to openly discuss their issues, connect with others that may be facing similar challenges and to support those who are going through a difficult time. The meetings follow a support-group style format, where a trained facilitator uses thought-provoking questions to initiate and guide the discussions.
