The academic literature suggests a need to embed student research within university curricula and it is recognized that Middlesex University Dubai students are capable of producing high quality research work undertaken as part of their coursework or undergraduate/postgraduate theses. Therefore, the Student Research Sub-Committee (SRC) was established with the goal of encouraging, supporting, and promoting student research. This committee focuses on all things student-research related. We have clear student research ethics guidelines, in line with international best practice. This helps inculcate a keen awareness of the importance of ethical behaviours in research. Many of our students go on to present their research findings with a wider audience and the Middlesex University Dubai Student Research Symposiums (SRS 2012, 2013, 2014, and the upcoming symposium in 2015) help showcase the research output of our students. We have also developed a Student Research Assistant (SRA) scheme for students who display a keen interest in gaining research experience, through working alongside a faculty member.
